Abstract: This study investigates the impact of water pressure, traverse speed, and standoff distance on surface roughness and kerf angle in abrasive water jet machining of sisal fibre-reinforced composites. ANOVA results show traverse speed (42.53%) and water pressure (39.77%) as the dominant factors influencing surface roughness, with standoff distance contributing 12.13%. Signal-to-noise ratio analysis confirms these trends, highlighting significant Delta values for traverse speed (0.876) and water pressure (0.762). For kerf angle, traverse speed (39.49%) and water pressure (32.04%) are primary factors, with standoff distance contributing 7.53%. Optimal conditions identified include higher water pressures (240-250 bar), moderate traverse speeds (30-40 mm/min), and shorter standoff distances (2.0-2.4 mm). These findings emphasise the need to optimise traverse speed and water pressure for improved precision and efficiency, with applications in industries like automotive, aerospace, construction, and marine sectors.
