Abstract: The resources are limited for everyone living in the universe. This causes an imbalance in supply and demand. In the case of which demand is more than supply, customers have to wait for some time. This waiting time is known as shortage. Forced by the partial information of inventory administrators of the EOQ policy, this paper investigates whether this strategy is effective in running inventory scheme for items with time-associated demand and exponential time-dependent holding cost and under two circumstances: first, time-linked demand without shortages and second time linked demand with shortage. Optimal solutions (ordering cost, carrying cost, shortage cost and total cost) are obtained by mathematical formulations. Numerical examples are offered to authenticate the models. In addition, sensitivity analyses are discussed for various parameters. Two figures are also given to prove the optimality conditions.

Keywords: inventory; exponential; time sensitive; shortages; carrying cost.
