Abstract: This study examines the role stakeholder factors play in shaping big data analytics capabilities and their subsequent impact on firm performance within the retail sector. Following a pilot test to evaluate the survey instruments, responses were collected from 306 Vietnamese retail enterprises. Key stakeholder factors, specifically customer orientation and supplier collaboration, were found to greatly improve big data analytics capabilities, resulting in improved firm performance. These findings add to the current body of knowledge on the performance dynamics of the retail industry and provide significant insights on how to leverage big data analytics to improve business outcomes in the retail sector. Theoretically, the study clarifies how external factors and big data analytics technology can be combined to optimise business strategies in the retail industry. Practically, the study helps Vietnamese retail businesses understand how to leverage data to improve performance, increase revenue and enhance competitiveness in a rapidly changing market.
