Abstract: This study aimed to assess the reliability of pressure reduction stations (CGS) in the form of k-out-of-n policy using statistical analysis and Markov model. The supplementary variable technique and weighted exponential Lindley distribution were utilised to assess reliability, availability, mean time to failure, and cost analysis. The CGS system consisting of four critical subsystems: cartridge filter, heater, regulators, and odoriser, as a series-parallel system. Subsystem-1 incorporates three cartridge filter systems, Subsystem-2 encompasses two heater systems, Subsystem-3 consists of three regulator systems, and Subsystem-4 includes a distinct odorisation system. The system collapses if any of the subsystems - 1, 2, 3, or 4 - fails, a switch malfunctions, or due to catastrophic failure. The numerical analyses indicate that modifications to the failure rates at various levels lead to a decrease in the system's availability and reliability over time. The findings suggest more focus needs on cartridge filters and regulators for improving system performance.
