Abstract: Delivery time requirements are shrinking. This transformation, driven by consumer expectations motivated by e-commerce, is reflected in logistical immediacy. This study analyses how logistical immediacy has been addressed in the theory of logistics and distribution and explores the literature to understand how academia has perceived the topic. The analysis of the researched material yielded thematic associations to support inferences supporting the discussion and understanding of logistical immediacy. A conceptual framework is presented to illustrate the discussion of the different factors that influence logistical immediacy and contextualise the relationship of the term with different themes and variables addressed in the literature. The results clarify the use of the term logistical immediacy by presenting aspects capable of influencing logistics operations and signalling related research opportunities.
Keywords: logistical immediacy; digital technologies; e-commerce; delivery speed; fast delivery.
