Abstract: In an IoT, wireless communication technologies connect devices, which should be based on lightweight protocols to conserve resources and reduce energy consumption. Optimising data transmission enhances device performance and improves network bandwidth utilisation. Owing to the ubiquity of Bluetooth-compatible devices, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) has emerged as a highly effective and popular choice for short-range wireless communication in IoT. BLE-Beacon broadcasts data packets at regular intervals to signal their presence or share data. Google's Eddystone is a proximity beacon messaging protocol with four different frames, that can be used individually or in combination. Eddystone-TLM frame transmits telemetry data (14 bytes) to administrators but with an additional 6-byte 'NOT USED' field. Such broadcasting affects communication speed, energy consumption, bandwidth utilisation, etc. This research proposes a novel approach to the Eddystone-TLM frame for broadcasting short (sensor) data without disrupting the regular operations of an existing system.
