Title: Green computing: the growing concern on information management, e-waste, safety, health and environment

Abstract: The application of information technology and computing in every facet of human endeavours across the global community with an increase in usage poses serious challenges to the users' safety, health and environment (HSE) due to the existence of green computing in Nigeria. This study focused on information technology and communication (ICT) equipment. This article also considered green computing, carbon emission and e-waste awareness level of Nigerians via a simple random survey technique. Total enumeration of the respondents were used with a validated questionnaire which has a reliability test that ranges from 0.791 to 0.803. It was discovered from the descriptive statistics that there is limited knowledge on the proper disposal of mobile devices, laptops and other electronic devices which has adversely increased the environmental e-waste and carbon emission. E-waste knowledge management has not provided significant information especially public knowledge on e-waste management of computers and phone in Nigeria.
