Abstract: The current research aims to deepen the knowledge on the mechanism of employee innovative work behaviour with the integration of human resource practices and diffusion of innovation theory. Data were analysed with 339 responses retrieved from employees working in small medium enterprises. Findings revealed that information sharing, recruitment and selection, compensation, training and development, supervisor support, innovativeness and compatibility explained substantial variance R2 0.769% in employee innovative work behaviour. Statistical findings confirmed that the moderating relationship between employee innovative work behaviour and organisational performance would be stronger when technology capability is higher. Theoretically, this study contributes to diffusion of innovation theory and human resource practices model. In terms of practice, results suggest that human resource practitioner and policy makers should focus on firm technological capabilities and training and development programs to boost employee attitude towards employee innovative work behaviour and organisational performance.
