Dr. P. Ganesh Kumar, Anna University, India

Health informatics is the multidisciplinary field with the combination of information science, health care and computer technology. The benefits of health informatics are (i) doctors can treat patients more effectively, (ii) statistical informatics provides the details about the medical treatment given to the patients, (iii) hospitals can track patients past records for faster treatment in the future.

Computational intelligence paradigms play a significant role in health informatics that provides decision support tools to medical specialists in the treatment of patients. In recent years, many research has been focussed on the use of computational intelligence in health informatics for computer aided diagnosis and prognosis of patient conditions.

The aim of this special issue is to discover original research on innovative and emerging areas of computational intelligence paradigms in the field of health informatics for medical diagnosis and prognosis.
