Abstract: This paper aims to analyse the power concept in inter-organisational relationships by presenting a set of concepts and properties to model and examine various aspects of power. Based on literature review, we discuss some formal results modelling power and the set of elements and properties necessary to understand these concepts. Our results contribute to the better understanding of the process of power generation and the resulting decision imbalance. Moreover, these results have implications for managers and practitioners as it provides a deeper understanding concerning the factors from which organisations' power stems.

Keywords: power; dependence; dominance; inter-organisational relationships.
