Abstract: The main objective of this research study is to understand and evaluate the effectiveness of CSR programs and also the various programs run by the CSR Department in Bokaro and peripheral villages. Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is said to be the business practices that involve a variety of initiatives in order to benefit society. An empirical study is made on Bokaro Steel Plant involving 110 respondents, of which 90 are people residing in the surrounding areas and 20 are managers of the company. This research study helps to bring in the corporate social responsibility importance, organisational benefits and also the challenges of CSR. The inferences of these findings are discussed and suggestions for improvement offered and scope for future research are provided to the company for its progress.
