Title: The dynamics of change

Authors: Sir Terence Beckett

Addresses: Director General, Confederation of British Industry, UK

Abstract: The world is facing a period of rapid technological change. The changes will come in the technology itself, in the globalization of markets, and in people|s patterns of work. The implications of each of these three categories of change are examined. The author concludes that, while change itself may be disturbing, there are hidden dangers in maintaining the status quo. This paper is adapted from a lecture given at Brunel University and sponsored by Midland Bank.

Keywords: global markets; technological change; working patterns; dynamics of change; globalisation.
