Abstract: Roadmapping is an effective tool for supporting innovation projects and business strategy. It is easy to implement and can be used in many different ways. In an international company like Siemens, roadmapping offers senior management valuable decision-making support that is easy to understand in every language. Siemens has developed a supportive approach for decision-making known as the Innovation Business Plan. At the heart of this Innovation Business Plan is a portfolio-based roadmapping approach. This paper provides an overview of the portfolio-based roadmapping approach within the Innovation Business Plan and its incorporation into the organisation.
