Abstract: This study empirically examines the existence and nature of long-run relationships between, on one hand, tourist arrivals, tourism income and economic growth in France and on the other hand the supply side expenditure, capital investments in the tourism industry of France. It also examines the long-run relationships between tourism income and economic growth in France. The time series data for the study covers the period 1995-2012. The results suggest the existence of positive long-run relationships between the tourism income and economic growth in France with unidirectional causality pattern. We may conclude that both the government and the private tourism sector in France, must aim at attaining sustainable tourism and economic growth.
