International Journal of Six Sigma and Competitive Advantage (IJSSCA), Vol. 9, No. 1, 2015

Abstract: Purpose - The purpose of this paper is to link concepts from the supply chain operations reference model (SCOR) with ISO standards relating to strategic partnership development and management in higher education. Design/Methodology/Approach - Qualitative primary data was obtained from managerial staff working in higher education institutions in seven countries. This data was complemented with content analysis of the literature on strategic partnership published from 2000 to 2013. Findings - It was found that, ISO requirements were compatible to the process-based 'SCOR Model' in terms of management commitment, determination of requirements related to the product, purchase, monitoring process, measurement and analysis. Research Limitations/Implications - Quantitative data from selected institutions in higher education can supplement the qualitative findings. Originality/Value - The holistic view 'Strategic Partnership' highlights the importance of flexible policies and requirements at the strategic level for educators in higher education.
