Abstract: An experiment was conducted for the stamping production of an oil pan for vehicle programme EQ153 using the deep-drawing steels A and B. The strain data on the sample parts were measured and analysed using a computerised analyser called Automated Strain Analysis and Measurement Environment (ASAME). The forming limit diagrams (FLD) for the steels A and B are examined, and the forming process is evaluated. Results show that both materials are unsuitable for this particular application. The desired material properties with an optimal strain hardening exponent value were then determined using experimental and analytical methods. Validation results show that the material proposed is appropriate for mass production of the oil pan stamping.
