International Journal of Technology Management (IJTM), Vol. 2, No. 1, 1987

Abstract: The former Chairman and Chief Executive of E.I. du Pont de Nemours & Company, USA, examines the nature of public responses to industrial technology. In the public arena, technology managers face policy challenges in the areas of: product use and disposition, pollution control and waste management, disclosure; risk reduction, regulatory complexity, and litigation and liability. These aspects are examined by reference to a case of an emerging technology (in the field of biotechnology).
