Abstract: The Yangtze Delta Region is now suffering from a water resources crisis and ecological destruction. An integral solution to these problems is proposed in this paper. In this scheme, a dam is built at the mouth of Hangzhou Bay, which will provide a ca.40 billion m³ freshwater reservoir under the prerequisite of keeping normal the water level of Hangzhou Bay. The reservoir will connect with the canal and lake nets of the Yangtze Delta Region. The solution will once and for all solve the lack of freshwater resources of this region, and result in a systematic reconstruction effect on the eco-environment.
