Abstract: A need for successful collaborative strategies is an enduring issue in organisations management. Several qualities of 'successful' partnerships have been identified. Individuals who consider themselves a member of the partnership are more central to the network of organisations invited to join the partnership and maintain a greater proportions of unique ties relative to ties common across multiple actors. Different aspects of collaborative networks were studied and a conceptual model is proposed for inter-organisational collaboration. The proposed model encompasses four major dimensions: facilitators, barriers, motivators and outcomes. Several factors are identified for each dimension. All of these factors in combination with each other can determine suitable collaboration type.
