Abstract: The present paper examines the status of QWL among the university teachers and explores various dimensions that influence their work life. Data for the study was collected from full-time teachers working in selected universities in Northern India. The study reports teachers to be moderately satisfied with the QWL in their universities and has identified the factors that influence the way employees perceive their QWL. The most important predictors of QWL of university teachers were identified to be growth and development, pay and recognition, work life balance followed by social integration. Among the demographic variables, age and position were found to be significantly affecting QWL. The results of the study will facilitate the institutions to conceptualise strategies that focus on enhancing the QWL of their employees, to ensure their long-term competitive advantage. The results also suggest that teachers with favourable QWL have a propensity to maintain long-term affiliation with their universities.
