Abstract: Lean manufacturing has become a common approach today for organisations seeking better quality of products, cost reduction and time efficiency. This study describes a case where lean principles were applied to a testing laboratory in service sector. It also describes importance of value stream mapping (VSM) in identifying wastage in the system and visualise process to improve it. This is analysed using Takt time calculations and identification of gap areas for achieving the desired objective.
