Abstract: Sustainable development has been established on an EU level as a strategy and some high-level political promises. In the present economic context, it is vital that a holistic approach to the green growth paradigm must be adopted. Nevertheless, the EU's energy, resource and environmental policies as well as development policy must be coordinated so as to ensure maximum possible coherence. The purpose of this paper is to briefly present the importance of sustainable development implementation and also to evaluate the EU real capabilities in supporting this agenda. Introductory part is giving an overview on this topic while trends of sustainable developments are presented in the EU framework furthermore.
