Abstract: This paper provides a first description of the state of the art in the use of Apps (Medical category) in Health Knowledge Management. The widespread use of this tool and its diffusion in everyday life is making way for new developments in the healthcare industry and patient care, and is a great example of how technological innovation can influence interaction among actors by ensuring access to knowledge. The aim of this paper, besides furnishing a general understanding of the phenomenon and its dynamics, is to evidence how these applications can support general practitioners in their relationships with their patients. These Apps can also influence the quality of patient care, through a real comprehension of the value that patients and doctors attribute to the introduction of the mobile tool into the healthcare system.
