Abstract: The nature of production has changed. As a consequence, organisations have lost sight of the sources of productivity and productivity developments. Main objective of this article is to investigate this so called ||productivity enigma|| from the perspectives of ||intellectual capital|| and ||knowledge productivity||. Both concepts are closely related to the New Growth Theory, and come together in the concept of ||intellectual capital multiplication||. This concept reveals that the different classes of intangibles – structural capital and human capital – enhance each other and that structural capital is the main source of productivity in the intangible economy.

Keywords: intellectual capital; intellectual productivity; intangibles; knowledge productivity; new growth theory; intellectual capital multiplication; productivity measurement; structural capital; human capital; productivity improvement; intangible economy.
