Abstract: In mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs), nodes use wireless communications to create spontaneously a wide network. These nodes communicate with each other by using some specific routing protocols such as optimised link state routing protocol (OLSR). OLSR protocol assumes that all nodes are trusted. However, in hostile context, OLSR is known to be vulnerable to various types of malicious attacks. This paper proposes a cooperative black hole attack against MANETs exploiting OLSR's vulnerabilities. In the proposed approach, two attacking nodes cooperate in order to disrupt the topology discovery and then prevent routes to be established to a target node.
