Abstract: In today's competitive world, the survival of large business and firms is based on strategic decisions made at right times. The making of strategic decisions is based on data organisation. The organisation of data is made possible by building data warehouses starting from conceptual design phase till final physical implementation phase. If the information quality is maintained from the initial phases, it is likely that high quality information will be obtained from data warehouse in the later implementation phases. The quality of data warehouse conceptual schema is governed by quality metrics. In this paper, the authors have proposed a quality metric (no. of relations between fact classes and dimension classes within a schema), that will lead to a better understandability of data warehouse conceptual schemas.
