Title: Tourism development and revitalisation of San-Fang Qi-Xiang historic district, Fuzhou, China: a perspective of tourist experience

Abstract: Tourism development and the revitalisation of Chinese historic districts are currently confronted with two key problems, namely a similarity of development models and resultant products. This paper applies the 6E model of tourist experience, which is based initially on the 4E model of Pine and Gilmore, is derived from an intensive survey of tourist motivations in historic districts and include aestheticism, education, entertainment, escape, exchange and emotion, to create fresh images and revitalise historic districts from cultural, social and economic aspects.
