Abstract: This paper presents evolving guidelines for undertaking phenomenological study in entrepreneurship. Building on the review of philosophical ideas that could inform the choice of methodology in a specific discipline, the paper unearths the essential tenets of two phenomenological schools of thought - descriptive and interpretive phenomenology, and describes how those tenets served as a guide to undertake a research activity in entrepreneurship. This paper, therefore, proposes a phenomenological research design, which has been used to undertake entrepreneurship study that shed more understanding on the link between institutions and entrepreneurship, for consideration in future entrepreneurship research using the phenomenological approach.
