Abstract: The aim of this paper is to highlight the impressive development of the petrochemical industry in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. An overall assessment of the impact of technology transfer induced by this industrialisation process is presented. The paper is composed of four parts based on latest data on petrochemical productions and its feedstocks and relevant investment figures. The first two parts are devoted to hydrocarbon feedstocks development and petrochemicals production capabilities. The last two parts discuss, in qualitative terms, the scope and impact of technology transfer on the pace of industrialisation of the Country.
