Authors: Maurizio Cumo

Abstract: Global energy issues cannot be considered in isolation from their cultural, social and spiritual aspects. These factors operate in the processes whereby energy is made available, and have a decisive influence on both its future availability and on the prospects for development in many countries. The cultural, social and spiritual spheres must necessarily interact if the global energy challenge is to be met. This task is beyond any one country or continent, and it will be impossible to achieve if any one of the cultural, social or spiritual elements were missing.

Keywords: cultural aspects; culture; energy policy; energy futures; global energy issues; international cooperation; social aspects; spiritual aspects; Third World development.
