Abstract: The paper deals with electricity consumption for household appliances in the former USSR. It summarized the findings of investigations aimed at determining prospects for the country|s energy sector. To identify potential energy savings, comparisons have been made with the consumption in developed countries. Possible ways to overcome the existing situation have been recommended.
