Abstract: The status of cogeneration systems in Korea is addressed and their future prospects are considered. Currently in Korea, cogeneration systems are operating either fully or partially in eight industrial complexes, fifty-one industrial plants, six large-scale buildings as well as in six high-population areas in which the cogeneration systems are run with district heating. It is anticipated that cogeneration systems will be further boosted as a result of the financial assistance and favourable tax incentives available in Korea for investment in cogeneration.

Keywords: cogeneration; district heating; industrial complexes; statistical data; Korea; combined heat and power; CHP.
