Title: A proposal for the Asian Pacific Energy Community

Abstract: The National Pipeline Research Society of Japan was established in July 1989 as a voluntary group of about 50 leading Japanese companies, including electricity, city gas, steel manufacturing, construction, heavy industries, oil and trading. It has been engaged on the investigation various issues concerning the feasibility of the construction of an international natural gas trunk pipeline network in the Asia-Pacific region. The results of this study are proposed here as |The Trans-Asian Natural Gas Pipeline Project|, which constitutes a core element in the concept of |The Asian-Pacific Energy Community|. This concept is similar to the European Energy Community Concept proposed by Mr Lubbers, Prime Minister of the Netherlands, in June 1990.
