Abstract: The suitability of existing supply chain management concepts to resolve current problems and upcoming challenges, are analysed based on their degree of target achievement and degree of innovativeness. Subsequently, the question of how new concepts can be developed in specific supply chains is discussed. The developed stage model serves as a reference model for companies and supply chains that intend to focus on future-oriented aspects of supply chain management.
