Abstract: Data from clearly defined and relevant metrics on performance management of relief supply chains can make the success of disaster relief efforts more likely. Studies on relief logistics are far and few, unlike those under commercial supply chain management. Moreover, not much seems to have been done to design metrics that are unique to developing countries in Asia and Africa. The objective of this paper is to provide motivation for development of performance management systems on humanitarian relief logistics and is based on review of the existing literature and extensive interviews with experts, and has a special focus on India.
