Abstract: The present work aims at demonstrating the influence of a number of dynamic effects in the PBL on the pollution concentration from a point source. The diffusion plume model applied in the study is based on the moment method. Limited number of numerical simulations, based on a more general model of a non-stationary, stratified, baroclinic PBL over a sloping terrain are carried out. The results are demonstrated mostly in the terms of mean cross-wind displacement and dispersion and are discussed versus the classic Gaussian plume characteristics behaviour. The differences demonstrate the joint influence of the wind rotation and vertical turbulent exchange on the admixture field pattern.

Keywords: planetary boundary layer; gaussian plume; wind rotation; cross-wind displacement; vertical turbulent exchange.
