Abstract: The evaluation of mesoscale model simulations against experimental data on the vertical profiles of mean meteorological parameters and surface turbulent momentum and heat fluxes for Sofia, Bulgaria, is presented. The simulation of the vertical profiles is currently a weak point in mesoscale modelling, and needs investigation in view of the numerous practical applications.

Keywords: Bulgaria; atmospheric boundary layer; vertical profiles; mesoscale modelling; simulation; surface turbulent momentum; heat fluxes.
