Abstract: This paper shows that information flow in the supply chain can be improved or shifted to a more distributed level, which will give tremendous advantage to those who notice it early enough. The other part of the paper concentrates in showing the technical means of how to use semantic interoperability on a large scale. The main findings summarised in this paper are: why allowing large scale distributed interoperability is so important for the supply chain and what are the technical means to make this vision a reality.
