Abstract: Companies and researchers around the world are interested in analysing prices of computer systems. Computer hardware prices have been studied at length, with several authors developing models to predict computer prices based upon specific hardware elements. However, relatively few studies have been conducted to analyse software prices. Some reasons for this could be scarcity of data, complexity of available data, and the need for sophisticated analysis methodology. This paper is an attempt to analyse the software prices using statistical and Artificial Intelligence (AI) approaches using 39 software attributes. The study uses 2005 Statistical Software Survey data published in ORMS Today.
