Title: Continuing Engineering Education: an important component of China's higher education

Abstract: Continuing Engineering Education is needed to help overcome China|s problems in scientific and technical updating of engineers and technicians. The authors describe the scale of the problem in China, and the efforts being made to overcome some of the deficiencies in the country|s educational system by introducing continuing education. Reference is made to specific programs underway at the author|s institution, Zhejiang University.
