Abstract: Computer-aided slide presentations have become common at lectures in universities. To improve the educational quality, this paper presents a Web-based lecture scene playback system using the digital picture-card show with the structured learning assistance function. Fine still images of lecture scenes are periodically taken by a digital camera, and the lecturer voice is recorded by a personal computer, which are edited to produce the digital picture-card show. The structured learning assistance function classifies the picture cards representing the slides containing each important concept into five structures, and generates their links. The system was applied to freshman courses in our department where questionnaire results confirmed the effectiveness.
