Abstract: The core of Intellectual Capital (IC) emphasises the important role played in value creation and value exaction by human resource, especially those who have high-tech knowledge and creative ability. It could be traced back to the labour theory of value from Marxism. If Chinese enterprises can use this theory and its business model in practice, that would be a great help in increasing their innovation ability, as well as protecting themselves from keen competition.

Keywords: intellectual capital; business models; labour theory of value; China; value creation; human resources.
