Abstract: Based on both international and domestic studies, this research has formulated a comprehensive and applicable index system of environmental amenities measurements for Beijing. The index system has been used to calculate the environmental amenities indices from 2000 to 2004 and grey relational analysis as well as a Grey model (1,1) are used in the analysis of the trend in changing environmental amenities in Beijing. The analysis shows that in 2004, the environmental amenities index in Beijing was 129.7 and predicts that by 2009, the number will rise to 185.6 with an annual rate of increase of about 7.4%. It also suggests that Beijing should take comprehensive measures to reinforce ecological conservation.

Keywords: environmental amenities; amenities index system; measurement; grey relationship analysis; Beijing; China; ecological conservation.
