Abstract: This article will discuss some of the most important Information, Communication and Space Technology (ICST) applications being created, along with the space infrastructure upgrades that are underway to support these applications. Satellites are routinely used to support sustainable development, as well as manage natural resources and emergency situations. The growing role of space technology is so profound that it has almost become prevalent in society. Over the next decade, there will be an increased need for innovative earth information systems to support the ongoing sustainable development initiatives. The objective of this article is to examine how ICSTs can contribute to sustainable development efforts by introducing a conceptual framework that can guide policy and the implementation of ICSTs into society.
