Abstract: Discussions on the provision of good quality housing management and maintenance services are well established in various disciplines. By joining the perspectives of facilities management studies and sociological considerations this paper attempts to introduce an interdisciplinary approach for conceptualising the quality provision of housing services. The paper aims at contributing to an understanding, which views service providers and clients – the residents and owners of housing property – as equally important in the reciprocity of the production of knowledge and raising knowledgeability assumed to form a solid foundation for professionalism in the field of management and maintenance of housing.

Keywords: professionalism; housing service quality; knowledgeability; capacity building; service provision partnerships; intelligent owners; housing services; facilities management; sociology; housing management; housing maintenance.
