Abstract: This paper highlights the importance of strategic supplier relationship management (SSRM) in situations like the COVID-19 pandemic. It focuses on developing a response to disruptions to ensure the uninterrupted flow of sourcing. This study aims to conceptualise and develop an SSRM model. The methodology involves creating a conceptual model based on buyer-supplier relationship models and identifying key factors for developing strategic relationships with suppliers. This research provides evidential support for theoretical and practical claims in the literature regarding the outcomes of SSRM practices. Notably, research on the relationship among SSRM, competitive advantage, and organisational performance is scarce, as previous studies have primarily tested the direct relationships between SSRM and organisational performance and between competitive advantage and organisational performance. In contrast, this research also explores the mediating role of competitive advantage. The findings of this study will help develop strong and strategic supplier relationships to respond to disruptions like COVID-19.
