Abstract: In our previous research on human capabilities of investigating the real world we studied philosophical and computer aspects of humans and their relation to the environment (Elisei et al, 2024a, 2024b). This made us pay attention to ecology as the study of the environment to understand how organisms live with each other in a specific physical environment. Our current work addresses the nature of ecological research itself and, in particular, the ambiguity of the concepts of humans and their relation to the environment. This led us to define such concepts as the environment, its parameters, systems and means of their measurement and interpretation. In an example we present phenomena such as the mechanism of energy propagation in various known environments. Considerations are discussed at both theoretical and applied levels. They are important because of the models devise are used to justify specific decisions.
