Abstract: This study analysed the main factors of environmental initiatives in large and medium-sized Logistics service providers operating in Brazil. An exploratory survey was conducted with a framework with seven distinct green initiatives from the logistics service providers (LSP). A questionnaire was sent to Brazilian LSP companies and data were analysed using descriptive, bivariate, multivariate, and factor analysis techniques. The 15 factors identified underlie the relationships between the 55 measured variables. Latent relationships between the variables promotes a direction for theoretical studies on the theme, and a new perspective on sustainable logistics. Thus, this paper presents an overview of green initiatives practiced by LSPs in Brazil. This case study identifies the main factors for environmental initiatives for the LSP sector in the country and outlines implications for theory, practice and policy. The study also point out the role of top managers and clients for the success of environmental initiatives adoption.
