Abstract: This paper is aimed to study the issue of enhancing the SE on a massive multi-user MIMO (M-MUMIMO) system, in which the BS comprises a huge number of antennae and also provides single-antenna users over the single cell with the consideration of time-division duplex (TDD) transmission. To SE maximisation in a DL transmission, a new method for power allocation among users is implemented based on an enhanced optimisation algorithm. The developed optimisation algorithm is called the adaptive energy computation-based Eurasian oystercatcher optimisation (AEC-EOO). The AEC-EOO algorithm is used in this work for performing the optimal power allocation in the MIMO system. The main objective of this optimisation algorithm is to enhance the SE in the developed M-MIMO system. The effectiveness of the implemented approach has been evaluated with the appropriate simulations and compared with the conventional algorithms to show a better SE achieved by the developed algorithm.

Keywords: massive multiple input multiple output; spectral efficiency; optimal power allocation; improved Eurasian oystercatcher optimisation.
