Abstract: This paper addresses the strategic management internationalisation of Brazilian universities to promote innovation though of good practices. The method is characterised by a qualitative, exploratory research, with systematic literature review. Our results suggest that in the university strategic management, internationalisation expands innovation; the approach with industry is a facilitator of innovation and university internationalisation, and the strategic management is a catalyst of internationalisation and innovation. Universities can obtain high levels of internationalisation in research and collaboration activities, even with the lack of institutional and government support. However, it is difficult to predict how this relationship can take place due to the complexity of the environment. Finally, internationalisation - in the short term - is not necessary for all organisations that develop innovation, just as not all internationalised organisations are necessarily innovative.
